Dubai opens Khor Al Mamzar Beach with 3.6 km expanded shoreline
Integrated amenities deliver sports, recreation, and continuous visitor engagement experiences
DUBAI – In line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Dubai Municipality has officially opened Khor Al Mamzar Beach to the public.
The development forms the first phase of the wider Al Mamzar Beaches project, designed to expand Dubai’s coastline infrastructure in response to rising demand. It also supports the emirate’s long-term ambition of becoming the world’s best city to live in by 2040.

Welcome to Al Mamzar, from the heart of Al Mamzar Beaches, experience a fully integrated beachfront destination at one of the most beautiful family spots, where comfort meets leisure in an exceptional atmosphere.
The new destination is now accessible to residents, visitors, and tourists, reinforcing Dubai’s growing portfolio of public leisure and tourism assets.
Opening phase
The inauguration ceremony was led by Eng Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, attended by senior officials from various government entities. Residents of Al Mamzar and Deira, alongside media representatives and influencers, also participated in the launch event, which featured community entertainment and interactive activities.
The opening marked a key milestone in the phased rollout of the Al Mamzar Beaches development programme, which prioritises enhanced public access to coastal spaces.
Design & scope
Spanning 2.75 million square feet, Khor Al Mamzar Beach has been developed as a fully integrated waterfront destination combining leisure, sports, and relaxation experiences. The swimming shoreline has been expanded to 3.6 kilometres, representing a 128 percent increase, while the sandy beachfront has grown by 110 percent to 182,000 square metres.
Infrastructure improvements also include more than 5.5 kilometres of walking, running, and cycling tracks, alongside a region-first floating walkway. Public facilities have increased by 400 per cent, now totalling 20, with eight recreational amenities incorporated into the master design. The project reflects a comprehensive transformation of the coastal environment, focusing on accessibility, usability, and modern urban design standards.
Leisure & facilities
The beach introduces a diverse range of lifestyle and recreational offerings aimed at year-round engagement. A 300-metre night beach operates 24/7, enabling continuous visitor activity across day and evening hours.
Additional features include an outdoor gym, beach volleyball courts, and padel courts, catering to varied fitness and leisure preferences. Water-based activities such as kayaking and other marine sports further extend the destination’s appeal.
Food and beverage options have also been significantly expanded, rising to 19 outlets, a 950 percent increase from previous provisions. These facilities collectively position the destination as a multi-purpose coastal hub, blending active recreation with relaxation and social spaces for families and individuals alike.
Safety & investment
Safety infrastructure has been significantly enhanced, with a 340 percent upgrade introducing a comprehensive system across the beach. This includes 12 lifeguard towers and 12 emergency call points strategically positioned to ensure rapid response and visitor protection. The design aligns with Dubai Municipality’s focus on creating secure, accessible public environments that meet international standards.
Alongside safety improvements, the destination is also being developed as an investment hub. Dubai Municipality has announced leasing and partnership opportunities for operators, businesses, and entrepreneurs under public-private collaboration frameworks. These initiatives aim to strengthen long-term sustainability while supporting small and medium enterprises and enhancing commercial activity within the development.
The broader Al Mamzar Beaches project forms part of an Dh3 billion coastal development programme under Dubai’s public beach master plan. It includes additional projects at Al Mamzar Corniche and Jumeirah 1, with future upgrades planned at Jumeirah 2, Umm Suqeim 1 and 2, and Jebel Ali Beach.
Expected to accommodate up to seven million visitors annually upon completion of its second phase, the initiative aligns with the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033 and the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan. It also supports the Blue and Green Spaces Roadmap 2030, reinforcing Dubai’s focus on sustainable urban growth and enhanced public waterfront experiences.
